13TH ANNUAL NETHERLANDS DEVDAYS ATTRACTS AUDIENCE OF THOUSANDS

(April 9, 2010) The Hague, Netherlands

Over 2000 delegates participated in Microsoft DevDays 2010, the largest and most influential Microsoft Netherlands event for software development and software architecture. Held at the World Forum in The Hague on March 30–31, 2010, the 13th annual DevDays provided Netherlands’ information technology professionals with the opportunity to become completely up-to-date on all the recent developments and innovations in software engineering.

DevDays 2010 was organized on behalf of Microsoft Netherlands by Asentus Europe B.V., a Netherlands-based consulting firm specializing in technology channel marketing services. When asked about the success of the event, Microsoft Netherlands sponsor Wim Hoek said, “We are extremely happy with the results and have received very positive comments from speakers, sponsors and delegates. DevDays has developed into a key event for Microsoft Developers to get updated on the latest trends and technologies. We are confident that DevDays 2010 will help developers to leverage these new technologies faster and to successfully use them in their application development projects.”

One of the sponsors, Thomas de Klerk of InfoSupport, noted “I am very excited about both days, for content, audience, and organization.”

All 78 DevDays speakers were influential experts in their fields. Among the top speakers were:
  • Anders Hejlsberg is a Technical Fellow in the Microsoft Developer Division. He is an influential creator of development tools and programming languages, the Chief Designer of the C# programming language, and a key participant in the development of the Microsoft .NET framework.
  • Scott Hanselman is a Microsoft Principal Program Manager, who is passionate about spreading good information about developing software. For six years, he was the Chief Architect at Corillian Corporation, now a part of Checkfree.
  • Charlie Kindel has over 30 years of experience in the IT field, joining Microsoft in 1990. He co founded Microsoft Premier Support and drove Microsoft's platform strategy as an evangelist in the Microsoft Developer Relations Group. He was instrumental in driving Microsoft’s distributed object technology, shipping Microsoft’s Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM), ActiveX technologies, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft’s Web server - IIS.
  • Aaron Skonnard is a Microsoft MVP and 10-year columnist for MSDN Magazine. He co founded Pluralsight, an industry think-tank focused on instructor-led training for Microsoft developers.
  • Mike Taulty works in the Developer and Platform Group at Microsoft UK, where he has spent the past few years helping developers to understand and get the best from the Microsoft platform. Prior to this, Mike spent three years with Microsoft Consulting Services as a consultant on developer technologies.

About DevDays:

DevDays is the biggest Microsoft event in the Netherlands for software development and software architecture. Every year, thousands of professionals visit DevDays to update their knowledge with all the recent developments in their area of expertise in just two days.

DevDays 2010 was attended by 2016 delegates, 25 sponsors, and 78 speakers. It was held at World Forum Den Haag on March 30–31, 2010.

The theme of DevDays 2010 was Change the Rules. Creativity and thinking outside of the box propel software developers and architects to gain great heights. Sometimes IT professionals have to bend the rules a little by using new technologies to be able to excel—but this takes expert knowledge. DevDays delegates can attend the content tracks of their choice, participate in Interactive Sessions, join Power Training events that are organized by Microsoft training partners, and get answers from the experts in the Ask-The-Expert area.
